Council approved a $2,000 donation to the Tyrone Food Bank at its November 10 meeting, pointing to the approaching holidays and the continuing federal government shutdown as reasons to act now. The shutdown has delayed pay for federal workers and raised uncertainty over food-assistance benefits, adding to demand on local pantries heading into the season when need typically runs highest.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — Sarah Hunter, Ken Patterson, Tammy Wills, William Wiser. Absent: Robert Dollar, David Snyder.
The gift matches the Borough’s last donation to the Food Bank, also $2,000, made in 2023. Two of Council’s members were absent, but the measure carried without opposition among those present.
On record: this donation is part of the public meeting record and is available at the Borough Office, 1100 Logan Avenue, (814) 684-1330.
