Adopted by Borough Council · August 8, 2022
Bicycles that have sat unclaimed in the custody of the Tyrone Police Department will be put back to use in the community. On August 8, 2022, Council adopted Resolution No. 2022-05, authorizing the donation of the unclaimed bicycles being held by the department to Bible Baptist Church.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — David Snyder, Robert Dollar, Sarah Hunter, Rob Poust. Absent: Charles Mills, Ken Patterson, William Wiser.
Police departments routinely take in bicycles that are recovered, surrendered, or otherwise turned in but never reclaimed by an owner. Once the holding period required for unclaimed property has run, a municipality may dispose of the items, and donating them keeps usable bicycles out of storage and in the hands of residents.
