Borough Council · July 8, 2024
Borough Council agreed at its July 8, 2024 meeting to waive any Borough permit fees — such as building permits — for non-profit organizations that hold established 501(c)(3) status under federal tax law. The decision was reached by consensus of the members present rather than through a formal recorded motion.
Approved by Council
In favor: all members present — Robert Dollar, Ken Patterson, Sarah Hunter, Rob Poust, William Wiser, Tammy Wills. Absent: David Snyder.
The waiver covers fees charged by the Borough itself. It does not cover inspection fees billed by the Borough’s third-party inspection agency, Bureau Veritas; qualifying non-profits remain responsible for those costs. A 501(c)(3) organization seeking a permit should be prepared to show proof of its tax-exempt status. Borough permit fees are otherwise set out in Chapter 92, Fees of the Tyrone Borough Code; questions can be directed to the Borough Office at 1100 Logan Avenue, (814) 684-1330.
On record: this fee waiver was adopted by consensus and is part of the public meeting record at the Borough Office, 1100 Logan Avenue. The Borough’s fee schedule is codified in Chapter 92, Fees of the Tyrone Borough Code.
