Adopted by Borough Council · April 12, 2021
Council voted on April 12, 2021 to allow Tyrone residents extra time to file the local Earned Income Tax, adopting Resolution No. 2021-05. The Earned Income Tax is a tax on wages and net profits levied by the Borough and the school district and collected on their behalf by a regional collector; it is separate from the state and federal income taxes filed each spring.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — Robert Dollar, Sarah Jane Miller, Charlie Mills, Tammy Wills, William Wiser, David Snyder. Absent: Ken Patterson.
The extension is conditional: Council made the resolution contingent upon all of the other entities that share in the tax agreeing to the same extended deadline, so that the change applies consistently across every taxing body. Residents with questions about their local Earned Income Tax should confirm the current filing date with the Borough Office at (814) 684-1330 before relying on the longer window.
On record: Resolution No. 2021-05 is part of the public meeting record at the Borough Office, 1100 Logan Avenue. The Borough’s local taxes are codified in Chapter 180, Taxation of the Tyrone Borough Code.
