Council approved a $3,000 donation to Tyrone Perfect Paws to help fund the group’s Trap, Neuter and Release program for cats within the Borough. Trap, Neuter and Release — often shortened to TNR — is a common method for managing free-roaming and feral cat populations: cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, and then returned to where they were found, which over time reduces litters, nuisance complaints, and the number of animals entering shelters.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — Robert Dollar, Rob Poust, David Snyder, Sarah Hunter, Ken Patterson, William Wiser.
The volunteer group had requested funding after a prior $1,500 commitment from 2021 was never paid out. The item was not on the published agenda; before the vote, Mayor Latchford opened the floor for public comment, and none was offered. The donation carried unanimously.
On record: this action is part of the public meeting record on file at the Borough Office, 1100 Logan Avenue. For the Borough’s own rules on keeping and controlling animals, see Chapter 61, Animals of the Tyrone Borough Code.
