Adopted by Borough Council · July 12, 2021
Signs may no longer be planted in the Borough’s rights of way under Ordinance No. 1452, which Council adopted at its July 12, 2021 meeting. A right of way is the strip of public land along a street that typically includes the cartway, the curb area, and the sidewalk; keeping it clear protects sightlines for drivers and pedestrians and leaves room for the Borough to maintain streets, signs, and utilities.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — Robert Dollar, Tammy Wills, David Snyder, Ken Patterson, Sarah Jane Miller, William Wiser. Absent: Charlie Mills.
The measure covers the kinds of temporary signs often staked into grass verges and curbsides. Residents and businesses can keep signage on their own property, where it remains subject to the Borough’s sign rules.
