Adopted by Borough Council · April 10, 2023
At its April 10, 2023 meeting, Council adopted Resolution No. 2023-02, authorizing the Borough to destroy certain municipal records that have reached the end of their required keeping period. Pennsylvania’s Municipal Records Act sets how long different categories of records must be retained — some for a few years, others permanently — and local governments routinely clear out paperwork once it has aged past those minimums and is no longer needed.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — Robert Dollar, Sarah Hunter, Rob Poust, William Wiser. Absent: David Snyder, Charles Mills, Ken Patterson.
Approving the resolution by formal vote is the step that lets the Borough dispose of the eligible material. The schedules that govern which records can go, and when, are set out in Pennsylvania’s Municipal Records Manual.
