Adopted by Borough Council · April 12, 2021
Council adopted Resolution No. 2021-06, authorizing the Borough to destroy a batch of old municipal records that have outlived the retention periods set by the state. Pennsylvania’s Municipal Records Act establishes how long townships and boroughs must keep different kinds of documents — financial ledgers, permits, correspondence and the like — and a formal resolution is the routine step a council takes before disposing of paperwork once those minimum periods have passed.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — Robert Dollar, Sarah Jane Miller, Charlie Mills, Tammy Wills, William Wiser, David Snyder. Absent: Ken Patterson.
The action is administrative housekeeping; it does not affect records the Borough is still required to keep. Residents who want to know which documents must be retained, and for how long, can consult Pennsylvania’s Municipal Records Manual from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
On record: Resolution No. 2021-06 is part of the public meeting record at the Borough Office, 1100 Logan Avenue. Learn more about retention schedules in Pennsylvania’s Municipal Records Manual.
