Adopted by Borough Council · January 12, 2026
One of the seven seats on Tyrone Borough Council is open again. At its meeting on January 12, 2026, Council adopted Resolution No. 2026-01 to formally declare vacant the Council seat that had been assigned to Rob Poust, who did not accept the office. With the seat unfilled, Council is required to recognize the vacancy on the record before it can move to fill it — and the Borough will now advertise for residents interested in serving.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — Robert Dollar, Sarah Hunter, Ken Patterson, Bridgette Gill, Tammy Wills, William Wiser.
An elected official takes office only by accepting the seat and being sworn in. When a person who was slated to serve does not accept, the position is treated as never having been filled, and Council must declare it vacant rather than simply leave it open. That declaration is what Resolution No. 2026-01 puts on the record.
The matter was handled in two steps at the same meeting. Earlier in the evening, under the Borough Manager’s report, Council moved and unanimously approved declaring the seat vacant; it then adopted the numbered resolution to formalize that action. The two steps cover the same vacancy — the resolution is the written instrument memorializing what the body had already agreed to do.
The Borough will advertise for interested persons, inviting residents who would like to be considered for appointment to come forward. Appointing someone to fill a mid-term vacancy keeps Council at its full strength of seven members while the seat is open. Residents who want to be considered, or who simply want to follow how the appointment proceeds, can reach the Borough Office at 1100 Logan Avenue, (814) 684-1330, and watch for the matter on upcoming agendas.
Council meets on the second Monday of each month, and the seat is expected to be a topic again as applications come in. You can learn more about how Council is structured and what its members do on the Borough’s Borough Council page.
