Adopted by Borough Council · March 10, 2025
Council adopted Ordinance No. 1483, amending the Borough’s Vehicles and Traffic rules to give Council the discretion to suspend parking enforcement at Parking Lot No. 1. Under the change, Council can lift enforcement at that lot by a majority vote taken at a public meeting, rather than leaving the rules fixed year-round.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — Robert Dollar, Sarah Hunter, Ken Patterson, Rob Poust, David Snyder, Tammy Wills. Absent: William Wiser.
The flexibility lets Council make parking free at the lot for occasions when it serves the public — for instance, during a community event or holiday shopping period — without amending the ordinance each time. Because any suspension must be approved in the open, residents can see when and why enforcement is paused. The provision is part of Chapter 190, Vehicles & Traffic of the Borough Code.
