Appointments · March 13, 2023
Council appointed David Wiser as the Borough’s Fire Marshall on March 13, 2023, after receiving a letter from Mr. Wiser expressing interest in the position. The appointment is contingent on his completion of the required courses for the role.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — David Snyder, Robert Dollar, Sarah Hunter, Ken Patterson, William Wiser. Absent: Rob Poust, Charlie Mills.
A fire marshall’s duties typically include investigating the origin and cause of fires, enforcing fire-safety and prevention requirements, and supporting the work of the Fire Department (Chapter 20 of the Tyrone Borough Code). Because the appointment is conditioned on finishing the necessary training, Mr. Wiser’s service in the role takes full effect once those courses are complete.
On record: this appointment is part of the public meeting record at the Borough Office, 1100 Logan Avenue. The Borough’s fire-service provisions appear in Chapter 20, Fire Department of the Tyrone Borough Code, online at ecode360.com/TY1357.
