Council voted on October 10, 2022 to increase the Borough’s monthly contribution to its two volunteer fire companies — Neptune Fire Company and Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder — raising each to $4,000 per month. The increase will be implemented through the 2023 Budget process. The change follows a proposal from Neptune Assistant Chief Chris Cherry for a volunteer firefighter incentive program; the last significant increase to the allotment came in January 2009.
