Council adopted Resolution No. 2024-04 on October 14, renewing the Borough’s Fair Housing commitment — a formal pledge that residents will not be denied housing because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, or disability, the classes protected under the federal Fair Housing Act.

Communities that receive HUD’s Community Development Block Grant program funds are expected to affirmatively further fair housing, and adopting a resolution like this one is a routine part of keeping that grant program in good standing. In Pennsylvania, CDBG is administered through Pennsylvania DCED’s CDBG program, which has helped fund the Borough’s housing rehabilitation work. Residents who believe they have faced housing discrimination can find more on how to file a complaint through HUD.
