At its December 11, 2023 meeting, Borough Council adopted Resolution No. 2023-15, reappointing Valerie Bates to the Tyrone Borough Civil Service Commission for a new term.

The Civil Service Commission is the independent panel that administers the merit-based rules for the Borough’s police hiring and promotions — overseeing the written, physical, and oral examinations used to build the eligibility lists from which officers are appointed and advanced. Keeping the commission’s seats filled ensures those tests can be given without interruption when a vacancy or promotion arises.
