Council voted to bring back a grant program that helps local nonprofits, allowing 501(c)(3) organizations within the Borough to apply for funding of up to $5,000 each. The grants are paid from the Borough’s Community Enrichment funds and administered through ABCD Corp, with a $50,000 cap on the program as a whole.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — David Snyder, Robert Dollar, Sarah Hunter, Ken Patterson, William Wiser. Absent: Rob Poust, Charlie Mills.
The program was approved for one year and is set to be revisited next year. A 501(c)(3) is a tax-exempt charitable organization under the federal tax code — the kind of community group, civic association, or service nonprofit the funding is meant to support. At the meeting, the Mayor called for public comment and none was offered.
On record: this action is part of the public meeting record on file at the Borough Office, 1100 Logan Avenue, (814) 684-1330.
