Adopted by Borough Council · March 8, 2021
At the request of property owners Lloyd H. and Lisa H. Loose, Council adopted Ordinance No. 1448, vacating an unnamed and unopened alley located between 538 and 566 W. 22nd Street. Vacating a street or alley means the Borough formally gives up its right to that strip of ground, which then reverts to the abutting property owners — useful where a paper alley was platted long ago but never actually opened or used. An easement is retained: no building or structure may be erected on it that would interfere with use by the Borough and the public utilities. A public hearing was held earlier in the same meeting, with no public comment, before Council voted.
Adopted unanimously
In favor: all members present — Robert Dollar, Sarah Jane Miller, Charlie Mills, Ken Patterson, Tammy Wills, William Wiser. Absent: David Snyder.
On record: Ordinance No. 1448 and the public hearing on it are part of the public meeting record at the Borough Office, 1100 Logan Avenue. Street and alley vacations are governed by Chapter 172, Streets & Sidewalks of the Tyrone Borough Code.
