Council on February 13, 2023 appointed Michael Beckwith as the Borough’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director. Mr. Beckwith had served for several years as Assistant EMA Director under the agency’s former director, and moves up to lead Tyrone’s emergency planning and coordination.

In favor: all members present — David Snyder, Robert Dollar, Rob Poust, Charlie Mills, Sarah Hunter, Ken Patterson. Absent: William Wiser.
The appointment followed Council’s acceptance, earlier in the same meeting, of Jay Young’s resignation from his EMA Director and Fire Marshall positions. A separate agenda item to appoint a Fire Marshall was removed from the agenda and not acted on at this meeting. The EMA Director helps the Borough prepare for and respond to emergencies and disasters, coordinating with county and state emergency management officials.
