Parks · June 8, 2026
Reservoir Park’s renovation planning took several steps forward at the June 8, 2026 meeting. Working from the project engineer’s questions, Council gave direction on the pavilion work: pavilion widths will be made uniform to save considerably on roof trusses, roofs will be metal for easier long-term maintenance, Pavilion #6 will be made handicap accessible — adding an accessible pavilion halfway through the park, alongside the already-accessible Pavilion #1 — and the fireplaces will be repaired, cleaned, and repointed. A question about whether the pavilions’ non-structural diagonal posts can be removed is being checked against code requirements before Council decides.
Council also agreed by consensus to amend the park’s Rules & Regulations, last updated in 2017. Among the rules to be revisited is the park’s “for-profit use prohibited” provision — a change that would allow food trucks, vendors, and artisans at community events. Council adopted that amendment in September as Ordinance No. 1503.
Separately, Council took up the Tyrone Improvement Group’s requests for the 2026 Lights in the Park event. The Borough will provide use of the park for nine nights along with electric service and staff time for opening, closing, and snow clearing; restroom and concession-stand water use isn’t practical because the park is winterized for the season. TIG’s requests for a cash donation and for food trucks and vendors were tabled to a future meeting.
Council consensus — no formal vote
Direction was given by consensus at the June 8, 2026 meeting; formal approvals will come back to Council as the rules amendment and project contracts are prepared.
