Parks & Recreation

Tyrone’s parks and pool are some of the best things about living here — gathering places for families, reunions, ball games, and summer afternoons. The Borough owns and maintains these facilities for the whole community. Here is what is available and how to reserve and use them.

Reservoir Park

Reservoir Park is the Borough’s signature park — a 33-acre property at 1046 Janesville Pike with 12 picnic pavilions, an amphitheater, playground equipment, and restrooms. The upper park typically closes after Labor Day, while the lower section stays open through September or October, weather permitting.

Reserving a Pavilion

Pavilions are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, and sign-ups for the season open around January 20 at the Municipal Building (a rental form is also on the Borough website). Rental rates are:

  • Pavilion No. 1 — $75
  • Pavilion No. 2 — $60
  • Pavilion Nos. 3–12 — $50
  • Electricity — $25/day
  • Amphitheater — $100

The Community Pool

The Tyrone Community Pool, a Borough fixture since the 1950s, offers water slides, a baby pool, accessible equipment, and a snack bar. Season-pass applications are available on the Borough website. Please note: outside food is not permitted (baby bottles and infant/toddler cups are fine). For pool information, call (814) 684-1337.

Park Rules Keep It Nice for Everyone

The Borough adopts rules and regulations governing conduct in its parks and recreation areas (Chapter 140, Parks and Recreation Areas), and posts signs accordingly; violations carry penalties (§ 140-1 through 140-3). The Community Pool is also operated under the Borough’s swimming-pool standards (Chapter 176, Swimming Pools). A volunteer Recreation Committee helps guide parks and recreation programming for the Borough (Chapter 43). At Reservoir Park, a permit for an activity held purely for private profit — vendor or food-truck sales, for example — may only be issued with the prior approval of Borough Council (Ordinance No. 1503, adopted September 2026).
