Council approved an Intermunicipal Water Service Agreement with the Altoona Water Authority on August 10, 2026, establishing a mutual interconnection between the Altoona and Tyrone Borough Authority water systems.
The interconnection allows the transfer of potable water in either direction in the event of a water supply emergency, giving the Borough a backup source should its own supply be interrupted. Water Superintendent Donnie Shultz began discussions with the Altoona Water Authority last year, and the finalized agreement was reviewed by Mr. Shultz, Solicitor Dan Stants, and the Borough Manager before coming to Council.
Approved unanimously, 6–0
In favor: all Council members present — Robert Dollar, Sarah Hunter, Debbie Kann, Ken Patterson, Tammy Wills, and Bridgette Gill. William Wiser was absent.
