The Zoning Hearing Board is an independent body that hears appeals from property owners and rules on requests for variances and special exceptions under the Borough’s zoning rules — the cases where a strict reading of the code would create a hardship or where a particular use needs a closer look. Its members are appointed by Council and decide these matters on their own. The board’s authority comes from Chapter 205, Zoning of the Tyrone Borough Code.
